I think I am just going to skip my Christmas post. It’s already 2009 and wouldn’t it just be weird posting a Christmas post in January? Wouldn’t it be old? Since the Sister blogged about it, just go read her post HERE la mkay.
I am going to go talk about how I bid farewell to 2008 and welcomed 2009. I said goodbye to a year that held a lot of bitter sweet memories with non other than the people I love most, after the family and boyfriend that is; the friends. xoxo.
We opted for a traditional get together cum barbecue at Georgina’s crib on new year’s eve. No clubbing this time around. I’ve got to tell you, personally, I think I prefer doing it traditionally because:
- We have the space all for us.
- No huge crowds.
- No over-booming music.
- No drunken strangers.
- We can be funny, silly and goofy all we want without having to worry about other people.
- And..we can buy our own booze, which is much cheaper compared to buying drinks in the club.
- No cover charge. wtf.
The hostesses of the night are the 2 siblings; Georgina and Mitchell.

Thanks to these 2, we had a great place to chill. They have a music room in the house; 1 piano, 2 keyboards or was it 1 organ and 1 keyboard? (wait, I think it was 3 keyboards) and 5 guitars! If only they have a drum set, it would be complete to form a studio of their own. I’ll be the singer.
The actual plan was to have it in Donny’s house but we had to cancel, because he just arrived Miri in the evening and we wouldn’t want to trouble him with last minute preparation. Another option were my house and Georgina’s. In the end, we ended up in G’s (Georgina panjang sangat, so I type G lah ok) place because my house ada anjing, I wouldn’t want to scare off Mayuki and Fyza.
Oh, btw. This is Donny.

Do we have any resemblance? At all? Because we are blood. His eyes looked weird in the picture. It was red, because of the flash so I tried to PS it, but he ended up looking like that in the picture. And with me being me, I was so lazy to re-PS it again. Sorry lah geng.
Donny’s tattoo. Wtf, so random.

I went early to G’s place that evening to help her with the preparation and stuff like that. Also, we live quite close to each other, so I had no problem of going early. Even my parents didn’t questioned anything at the mention of G’s name. They know the family, that’s why. And we’ve been friends since kindy so my parents trusted me in G’s hands. Eh, I am going out of the topic already.
Back to BBQ.
We had chickens, fish balls, sausages and prawns. We should’ve had marshmallow too, BBQ marshmallows taste nice. I did think about it, but in the end, I forgot to buy.

I barbecued the first batch of chickens while waiting for the guys to arrive. I was surprised that it tasted great. Haha. I never knew I had a hidden talent in barbecuing chickens before. Wtf. This is my first time btw, all the while I have been leaving it to the guys to do it.
But the funny thing was, after I’ve successfully BBQed the first few chickens, the fire died on me. It died ok. Then I called G in the house and she said maybe because we didn’t kipas-kipas the fire. Then both of us cover malu, we decided to wait for the guys to arrive to restart the fire. Haihh~
And they were late.
Luckily all the food has been prepared and the first batch of the BBQed chickens were enough for all of us, so we ate. While we were eating, the guys continued with the BBQ to ensure that we have enough supply of BBQed chickens, fish balls, sausages and prawns.

Oh I bet you notice there’s a gold-colored shisha tool on the table huh?
It’s my dad’s. I brought to G’s place for its opening ceremony. Never been used before that’s why. My dad has had that tool for months, bought from Dubai, but when I asked him, “Daddy, you know how to use it ka?” Then he said,” No”.
I was like…-_-”.
Two days before new year’s eve, I asked the guys, “Hey, korng mok shisha x? My dad ada tool ya tp nya x pandey pakey. Mcm rugi jak ngkah dlm stor gia jak, siap lengkap ngn flavour gik. Mun tokrang pandey bakar nya, lak ku mbak. Blh ku ajar father ku trus lekak tok.”
Translations: Hey, do you guys want shisha? My dad has the tool but he doesn’t know how to use it. It’s such a waste if it is just kept in the store like that, it’s even complete with the flavours. If you guys know how to burn the flavors, I can bring it. Then after that I can teach my father how to use it.
So, these are the 2 guys who know how to prepare a shisha.

There were 3 flavors; apple, mint and tobacco. We didn’t use the tobacco flavor though because some didn’t like the taste. We opted to mix the apple and mint flavors. And it was awesome!
I am not a smoker, but I think I can bear shisha. Is it the same as smoking? I didn’t exhale the smoke into my lungs though, I was just playing with the flavors. As long as I tasted the mint apple, that’s it. I puffed it out.
It was my first time too. I don’t really like having shisha at a public place, the though of re-using the equipment after a random group of people puffed on it is utterly disgusting. At least for me. That night I shared it with my group of friends. I know these people, so I am ok with it.

As the clock strike 12, we made a toast for friendship. A friendship that has lasted this long and hopefully will last a life time. A lot has happened in year 2008, some even caused our friendship to be put at stake but we’re glad no matter what happened it remained strong, I bet even stronger than before. Love you peeps!

Oh, and naughty Donny brought along some fire crackers. Lol, for a while there we felt like kids again, playing with fire crackers. It started off with beautiful brightly colored sparks then it ended up with a loud BANG! The loud bang caused the alarm of one of the neighbor’s car to go off. And we ran back into the house like little kids scared of being caught for doing something bad. It was fun.

G brought her guitar outside and started strumming and singing. Then the guys joined in and G had to take another guitar and we started singing songs we never knew we know.

And we continued telling silly jokes, reminiscing the past, recalling funny things we did in high school dan banyak lagi.
I don’t understand what Ambas was trying to do here, trying to lengthen his tongue so that it can reach the sausage in my hand?

And all night long, he has been hitting on Jo.

He’s high on booze I think. Oh yeah, we had plenty.
Someone got tipsy a little bit too early. Haha.
Then on the night of 1st January 2009, Dad brought the family out for fine dining. It’s great right? On new year’s eve, I was with the friends and on new year itself, I was out with the family. What better way to welcome 2009 than being surrounded with people we love? It’s a good start. It’s a sign that this year will be a great year. I just wonder what’s in store for me.
Alright, since I am going to talk about fine dining with the family, for those who still haven’t had their meal, please stop right here.

Alright, I warned you.
Dad brought us to Cafe Rosita in Dynasty Hotel for New Year’s Dinner.
Conversations are always the best over meals huh? It’s when Dad talked about what had happened in the past and what to look forward in the future. He has a plan to bring the family for another vacation out of Boleh Land this year. I suggested Indonesia.
I hope Dad will make it happen. I am psyched to finally get a chance to visit his country. He has always told me stories about great places to visit, delicious food to eat and best place to shop, it is time for me to actually BE there.
Ok lah. Food!
This is my main course. OMG, I am freaking out seeing this picture now. I had rice after 8 pm. I am not supposed to!
<—hyperbola lagi

Chicken wings. I had chicken wings the night before, and that night, again? Chicken wing? I passed. Dad and Mom walloped them all.

Chicken again.

Apart from the local cuisines, they also prepared some Mexican delicacies that night. I took the tortillas. It is made of Mexican spiced chicken fajitas with onion, bell pepper, sour cream, shredded cheese and pico de gallo corn tortillas. It said so on the menu.

And Japanese cuisines too. Oh, you know what these are.

As dessert, we had ice cream with some sort of biscuits underneath. Brother loved it so much, he ordered another one.

That’s his happy face btw.
I told him, “Aaron, look here. Kakak take picture of you.” Then he gave me that face. Then I said, “Why do you look sleepy? Give me a happy face.”
Then he said, “This IS my happy face.”
Oh well.
And the winner of the night is this:

Chocolate Almond Cake. I like~
and again, have a great 2009!
